Propane conversion

Postby broncomarc » Fri May 27, 2011 7:47 am

Here's a bunch of pics of my propane conversion.

My progress: Everything is mounted except the battery. Still trying to find a good place for it. I can get it started and running on the propane, but I have to hit a button on the vaporizer to get it to start, and then it doesn't run at idle. So, just a little tuning needed.

My coil overs are almost ready to go on. Once I get this thing running I need to take it out and get it weighed so I can order the springs.

Finally made progress!! I've been working for a couple weeks to get it running right. It would crank and crank and I'd get nothing, then I could hit the purge button on the vaporized to let a big burst of propane thru and then try to start and it would then get some fire. But then it needed at least 1/2 throttle to stay running.

I went thru the vaporizer over the weekend and everything looked ok. I took the mixer (carb) off today and was going thru it. I noticed that there was a spring that looked at home above or below the diaphragm. I tried it below and it did the same thing it's been doing. I tried it above and it fired right up and purrrrrrred.

It starts very easy now and revs well. So, I just need to build the throttle cable mount and get the battery mounted and then I'll be ready to test it! I might actually make Gore!
